Florality Open Beta — What’s new since Closed Beta (v1.3)

Open beta = anyone can sign up on the web. Closed beta needed invite/access gate. If you were on closed beta, your data carries over. One-time prompt may ask you to assign members to systems (see Upgrading from closed beta).

Welcome to the OPEN BETA

Welcome all to the long awaited Open Beta. Sorry for the long wait there were a bunch of technical difficulties.

  • Open Sign-up: Create a free account without needing to be invited.
  • Front page refresh: /features, /faq, /security, /our-team, /changelog, /contact
  • FAQ: Just some answers to some questions we see often
  • Contact form: Reach the team from the site without having to go to the discord
  • Changelog: It looks better and feels better to use

Upgrading from closed beta

  • System assignment: first visit may prompt: put every member on a side system.
  • Discord: closed-beta role removed in open-beta mode; Pro / Pro Plus / Supporter roles still sync when linked. Closed beta badge can remain on profile if you joined during closed beta.
  • Folders → Groups: old “directories/folders” model merged into Groups. Same tree idea; labels and navigation updated.

Systems & organization

  • Multiple side systems: separate contexts (e.g. subsystems) with own members, groups, front, notes scope.
  • Nested sub-systems: hierarchy under a side system; optional linked member per sub-system.
  • All systems view: switcher option to see everything at once; switch back to resume last system.
  • System tags: icon, short code, color on system switcher.
  • Custom terminology: rename “member”, “front”, “note”, etc.; nav and copy follow your words (per-system overrides supported).
  • Group descriptions: markdown descriptions on groups; mini highlight syntax in lists.
  • Member list layout: choose how the members list presents (appearance setting).

Members & Profile

  • Member statuses: custom statuses (icon + color); assign to members, account, or active front; privacy buckets per status.
  • Member templates & presets: reusable layouts; presets for quick member creation.
  • Archive members: archive without deleting history; dedicated archived list + search.
  • Photo ring / edge: toggle from member menus and more surfaces (list, search, front picker).
  • Custom field alignment: left / center / right on field values (set when editing field definition).
  • Friend-visible profile controls: choose what friends see: pronouns, about, banner, locale, status, page look, reach policy.
  • Friend suggestions: opt out of appearing in friend suggestions.

Notes & markdown

  • Markdown tables: pipe tables in notes, About, markdown custom fields; insert from toolbar; paste detection.
  • Images in markdown: drag/drop, paste, left/center/right alignment, layout toolbar.
  • Checklists, small images, tables: broader markdown tooling across profile and notes.

Sharing, friends & privacy

  • Privacy buckets (major): replace old friend-role matrix. Buckets like Regular friends, Trusted friend, Partner, Complete privacy; assign members, groups, fields, profile sections; per-bucket friend access (view / read / read+write).
  • Friend profiles: tabs: Social, Members, Front history, Notes (each gated by buckets).
  • Help friends front: when allowed, change who’s fronting on a friend’s system from their profile.
  • Block users: block with optional reason.
  • Social section on your profile: links (Discord, GitHub, etc.), widgets, visibility per audience.
  • Photo gallery: image gallery widget; upload or import URLs - friends see when shared.
  • Guestbook: visitors leave messages on your social profile (threads, moderation).
  • Polls: poll widget on profile, single or multi-select voting.

Communication

  • In-system messaging (beta): private spaces and channels for internal chat.
    • Member mentions, attachments, pinned messages
    • GIF picker, link previews, emoji preferences
    • Encrypted at rest on server (not end-to-end encrypted)
  • Realtime updates: live presence and faster dashboard updates where enabled.

Appearance & accessibility

  • Settings → Accessibility: reduce motion, high contrast scheme, OpenDyslexic, text size (presets + 12–24px slider), destructive button color (presets + preview).
  • Custom color schemes: clearer primary vs accent; gradient partner color; brightness/contrast tweaks (Pro plans).
  • Member banner gradients: optional gradient on member banners.
  • Theme / preset fixes: less flashing when switching light/dark or color schemes.
  • Tablet & mobile dashboard: improved layouts, swipe sidebar, bottom sheets for actions on small screens.

Fronting & history

  • Front history timeline: graphical month view - edit session times; bars refresh after edits.
  • Transfer sessions between members where supported.
  • Clear front confirmation: confirm before clearing everyone from front.
  • Analytics UI: refreshed charts and tables for fronting time.

Imports, export & data ownership

  • Onboarding wizard (7 steps): name first system, look, theme, font, layout intent, optional import, review.
  • Imports: Simply Plural, PluralKit, Octocon; tracked runs; merge/re-import for Simply Plural without starting over.
  • GDPR export: download includes members, notes, groups, systems, privacy buckets, friends, social, guestbook, polls, messaging, terminology, billing, imports, activity.
  • Florality's export preview: export-oriented preview where available.

Billing & Discord

  • Donations (Supporter): pay-what-you-want on /pricing and Billing → Payments; perks include larger uploads (50 MB) and Supporter Discord role when linked.
  • Discord plan roles: Pro / Pro Plus roles sync with subscription; retry from Settings → Account if sync fails.
  • Billing mobile: donation banner and plan cards improved on phones.

Developer-friendly (plain language)

  • Public REST API (v1): API keys with scopes; documented at /docs (members, groups, notes, front, appearance, custom fields, trash, search, systems, messaging, privacy buckets, terminology, friends, billing, activity, guestbook, polls, statuses).

QOL fixes

  • Destructive actions (delete, disconnect) use consistent red styling that respects accessibility color override.
  • Add-member dialog warns before leaving with unsaved changes.
  • Dark mode on marketing pages no longer flashes white.
  • Member About editor layout matches preview; less jump when switching edit/preview.
  • Transparent PNG avatars/images: reduced halos on dark backgrounds.
  • Admin tools: role-based admin access (owner/editor/etc.), contact inbox, marketing team page editor: operator-facing, not end-user product.

What stayed the same (still core in v1.3)

Unlimited members, fronts, groups/folders, notes per member, front history, analytics, custom fields, friends, imports, Stripe subscriptions (Free / Pro / Pro Plus), custom fonts/schemes on paid tiers, keybinds, changelog in-app.
